Exeter Chiefs Women’s tighthead prop DaLeaka Menin has signed a new contract to extend her time with the club.
Most recently seen playing for Canada in the Pacific Four Series, Menin collected her 60th cap for her country with more expected to come in this summer’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in England
When the tournament culminates, Menin will return to Sandy Park to resume PWR duties.
She said: “I’m looking forward to another season with the Chiefs. Last season had some highs and lows with a unique set of challenges, including how condensed the timeline was. Being able to resign for another season and have another opportunity to play quality rugby with good people supported by our dedicated fans is something that excites me.
“It is a blessing to be able to return to play in such a beautiful place, have more time to connect with teammates and immerse myself in such a wonderful community. I’m have no doubt it will be a exciting season post a rugby filled summer.”
Menin signed to Chiefs from Loughborough Lightning in the summer of 2021. Since her debut against Bristol Bears, she has racked up 61 appearances and scored 10 tries.
Interim head coach Steve Salvin said: “DaLeaka has been the cornerstone of our pack for the last three years. Her front-row partnership with Emily Tuttosi and Hope Rogers has been the platform for so many of our best performances. However, DaLeaka in the loose in also a terrifying prospect as we saw in PAC4. I am so pleased she has chosen to stay with us for what we hope will be an exciting season for Chiefs.”
Supporters can watch Menin and her Canadian teammates in action against Scotland in the Women’s Rugby World Cup at Sandy Park on September 6 (KO 12:00). Tickets are available here.
