Gloucester-Hartpury re-sign Kate Williams

Gloucester-Hartpury is delighted to confirm the re-signing of newly appointed Wales co-captain, Kate Williams.

The dynamic and versatile forward arrived from New Zealand in the summer of 2023 and has since become a key figure in the reigning Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) champions.

Following an impressive debut season in Cherry & White, Williams elevated her game even further in 2024/25, earning the title of Players’ Player of the Season for her outstanding contributions throughout the campaign.

A proven performer on the big stage, Williams played a pivotal role in The Circus’ PWR Final triumph over Saracens, scoring the team’s opening try in a dominant display.

Her impact extends to the international stage as well. Since making her debut in the 2023 Six Nations, Williams has earned 16 caps for Wales and was this week named co-captain — a testament to her leadership and consistency at the highest level.

Head of Rugby Dan Murphy commented: “Kate is a fantastic player and a wonderful person. As an athlete, she’s incredibly gifted with a huge engine, and her ability to play across multiple positions is both rare and incredibly valuable.

“Off the field, she truly embodies what we’re about as a Club. She’s driven, diligent, and a natural leader who lifts those around her — something clearly reflected in her recent appointment as Wales co-captain.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Kate back and can’t wait to see her continue to grow with us in what promises to be another huge season.”

Williams added: “I’m incredibly grateful to Gloucester Hartpury for everything they’ve done for my career. The past few seasons have been a whirlwind, but I’ve loved every single minute of it.

“To be able to do what I love, alongside a group of girls who have truly become my family, is such a privilege — and honestly, you don’t need much more motivation than that.

“As a group, we’re determined to keep our foot on the gas and push forward again next season. We’ve had some amazing successes, but our focus is firmly on improving, building on what we’ve achieved, inspiring the next generation, and continuing to make the people of Gloucestershire proud.”
