Six Nations: Jones and Packer shine in Red Roses win

England's Red Roses sealed the Triple Crown with a 10-try 62-24 win over Wales at Ashton Gate in Round 3 of the Guinness Women's Six Nations.

Meg Jones and Marlie Packer scored twice while Millie David crossed on her debut for the hosts, though Wales showed plenty of promise in attack and returned over the Severn Bridge with a try bonus point.

Elsewhere, Scotland slipped to a 41-14 defeat against Italy while Ireland lost 26-7 against France.

Roses flex their muscle

England were straight into their groove in front of a 26,247-strong crowd in Bristol. Maddie Feaunati continued her fine form with the game's opening try before David was the beneficiary of Holly Aitchison's brilliant pass to score on her home ground.

Her international bow was sadly soon ended when she failed an HIA while David's Bears teammate Keira Bevan got Wales on the board when she sniped over.

Packer and Jones secured England's bonus point before the first half was out, the latter courtesy of a brilliant individual effort. Kelsey Jones dotted down for Wales, who trailed 29-12 after 40 minutes after her namesake Meg completed her double in style by finishing off a brilliant team move.

Amy Cokayne got the ball rolling in the second half before both wingers got in on the act, Claudia Moloney-MacDonald acrobatically finishing in the left corner and Jess Breach strolling over on the opposite flank.

A dominant rolling maul brought Packer her second try and Maud Muir added number 10 either side of the battling visitors adding two more to their tally through Gloucester-Hartpury duo Bethan Lewis and Seren Lockwood, who ensured all tries on the day were scored by PWR players.

Scotland suffer defeat

Scotland slipped to a second consecutive heavy defeat as Italy ran out 41-14 winners in Parma.

The hosts ran in five first-half tries, including two apiece for Alyssa D'Inca and Vittoria Zanette, to take a 29-0 lead into the interval.

Bristol Bears' Lana Skeldon, captain for the day in the absence of the injured Rachel Malcolm, scored after the break and Loughborough Lightning's Helen Nelson slotted two conversions, but the hosts' PWR duo Silvia Turani and Francesca Granzotto ended on the winning side.

Ireland overwhelmed by France

Ireland have ringed the date of their clash with France since losing to Les Bleues in the World Cup quarter-finals but they again found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreline as the hosts won 26-7.

Ireland had three tries ruled out by the TMO in a pulsating first half as the sides went in level 7-7 at the break. Exeter Chiefs' Cliodhna Maloney-MacDonald was frustrated to dot down two of them, but did also score one legitimate try.

However, France were too strong after the break as tries from Carla Arbez, Anais Grando and Lea Champon added to Ambre Mwayembe's first-half score.
